[:pb]Projeto vai distribuir mais de 11 mil mudas nas áreas afetadas

Os incêndios florestais que atingiram o município de Apuí-AM neste ano acenderam um alerta vermelho mundial, resultando na criação da Aliança Apuí, grupo que se juntou para tomar ações efetivas e inteligentes para evitar que as queimadas persistam nas mesmas proporções. Além de equipar e capacitar pessoas para atuar em uma espécie “Brigada de Incêndio” voluntária, no início de dezembro a Aliança Apuí vai realizar a distribuição de 11,5 mil mudas, focando nas áreas afetadas pelo fogo.
Atualmente, a Aliança Apuí é coordenada pelo Idesam e Secretaria Municipal de Meio Ambiente de Apuí, além de contar com apoio da WeForest, WWF e FARM, todas unidas com o mesmo objetivo de controlar as queimadas e incêndios na região e trazer maior transparência acerca dos dados sobre o desmatamento e focos de calor.
Com várias frentes de atuação, a Aliança Apuí já conseguiu capacitar cerca de 20 pessoas, além de comprar materiais e equipamentos de combate a incêndios e um trabalho educativo na prevenção a queimadas junto a escolas e associações de produtores.
Alinhado a essa prerrogativa, além de tomar ações práticas contra as queimadas, o grupo busca embasar a sua atuação em estudos e análises das áreas afetadas. Um último estudo, ainda inédito, assinado pelo pesquisador sênior associado do Idesam, Gabriel Carrero, analisa as queimadas e incêndios estimando os danos na fronteira de expansão agrícola em Apuí.
Carrero conclui que as ações para a redução de queimadas e incêndios devem ser focadas na execução de aceiros tanto ao redor de áreas de agropecuária e de floresta recém-derrubada. Portanto, a exemplo do trabalho que o Idesam vem desenvolvendo com produtores nos últimos 10 anos, técnicas que não envolvam o uso do fogo para a formação e manutenção de áreas agropecuárias devem ser ainda mais incentivadas.
Para o representante do Idesam na coordenação da Aliança Apuí, Pedro Soares, as capacitações oferecidas são uma peça chave da Aliança para o município ter uma estrutura de combate e prevenção a queimadas cada vez mais preparada. “São atividades que deixam um legado para Apuí e a ideia é que esse grupo de pessoas esteja apto e equipado para atuar no caso de focos de calor e para sensibilizar produtores e a sociedade de Apuí sobre as formas corretas de manejar o fogo. Mas de fato, todas as nossas atividades serão para prevenir queimadas futuras e não termos novamente a situação que sofremos esse ano”, completa Soares.
Doação de mudas
Além de já ter realizado capacitação com aulas teóricas e práticas junto a brigadistas voluntários de Apuí, na primeira semana de dezembro será realizada mais uma palestra, tendo como público-alvo produtores do município. De acordo com a técnica do Idesam em Apuí, Vanilse Constante, a Aliança irá fazer também os primeiros testes de uma nova bomba d’água com brigadistas capacitados pelo projeto.
Outra atividade programada é a distribuição de 11 mil mudas que poderão ser plantadas em áreas afetadas pelas queimadas. Vanilse Constante explica que todas as mudas são provenientes de doação em função de uma multa ambiental aplicada a uma fazenda local.
Constante ressalta ainda que os equipamentos adquiridos pelo projeto serão todos repassados a Semma (Secretaria Municipal de Meio Ambiente) local, quando os brigadistas também receberão treinamento do manuseio correto das ferramentas.
Um desses voluntários é Maurício Damacena, que também sabe da importância de uma Brigada mais preparada para atender não só ocorrências de incêndio, mas também outros acidentes no município.
“O nível de incêndio no município tem sido muito, mas uma Brigada de Incêndio seria muito boa não é só para apagar fogo, ela também auxilia em acidentes de veículos, acidentes domésticos, então é algo que vem para atender outras demandas da nossa região. O curso nós fizemos foi ótimo, aprendemos novas técnicas, com aulas práticas e teóricas, incluindo legislação, combate a diferentes tipos de incêndio, além de primeiros socorros. Na parte prática pudemos colocar a mão na massa e fazer procedimentos que vamos utilizar nos nossos trabalhos do dia a dia”, salienta Damacena.
Atualmente o município de Apuí não conta com uma brigada de incêndio oficial, sendo atendido pelo PrevFogo, coordenado pelo Ibama, em algumas épocas do ano.[:en]The Project will distribute over 11 thousand seedlings in the affected areas

The forest fires that hit Apuí (Amazonas) this year sparked a worldwide red alert resulting in the creation of the Aliança Apuí (Apuí Alliance, in English), a group that got together to take effective and smart actions to avoid that the burnings continue in the same proportions. In addition to equipping and training people to work in a voluntary “Fire Brigade”, the Apuí Alliance will distribute 11,500 seedling in early December focusing on areas affected by the fire.
Currently, the Apuí Alliance is coordinated by Idesam and the Municipality’s Secretariat of the Environment with the support of WeForest, WWF and FARM, all united with the same goal of controlling the burnings and fires in the region and making the data on deforestation and heat sources more transparent.
With various action lines, the Apuí Alliance has already trained around 20 people as well as purchased fire fighting supplies and equipment and carried out an educational work on fire prevention in schools and producer associations.
Aligned with this prerrogative, besides taking practical actions against the fires, the group seeks to base its work on studies and analysis of the affected areas. The last study, still unpublished, signed by Idesam’s senior research associate, Gabriel Carrero, analyzes the burnings and fires estimating the damage at Apuí’s agricultural expansion frontier.
Carrero concludes that actions to reduce burns and fires should be focused on the establishment of firebreaks around both agriculture and newly cleared forest areas. Therefore, like the work that Idesam has been developing with producers in the last 10 years, techniques that don’t involve the use o fire for the formation and maintenance of agricultural areas should be further encouraged.
For Idesam’s representative in the coordination of the Apuí Alliance, Pedro Soares, the training offered is a key part of the Alliance for the municipality to have an increasingly prepared fire fighting and prevention structure. “These activities leave a legacy for Apuí and the idea is for this group of people to be able and equipped to act in the event of heat sources and to make Apuí’s producers and society in general more aware of the right ways to manage fire. But in fact, all our activities will be to prevent future burns and to avoid the situtation we faced this year”, Soares adds.
Seedlings donation
In addition to capacity building activities with theoretical and practical classes with volunteer brigade members of Apuí, another lecture will be held in the first week of December, targeting producers from the municipality. According to Idesam’s technician in Apuí, Vanilse Constante, the Alliance will also conduct the first tests of a new water pump with brigade members trained by the project.

Another scheduled activity is the distribution of 11,000 seedlings that can be planted in areas affected by the burns. Vanilse Constante explains that all seedlings come from donations due to an environmental fine applied to a local farm.
Constante highlights that all the equipment purchased by the project will be passed on to the SEMMA (Apuí’s Secretariat of the Environment) and that the brigade members will also receive training on how to properly handle the tools.
One of these volunteers is Maurício Damacena, who also knows the importance of a better prepared Brigade to handle not only fire occurrences but also other accidents in the municipality.
“The level of fire in the municipality has been very high, but a Fire Brigade would be very good not only to put out a fire, it also assists in vehicle accidents, domestic accidents, so it is something that meets other demands of our region. The course we did was great, we learned new techniques, with practical and theoretical classes, including legislation, fighting different types of fires and first aid. In the practical part we were able to have a hands-on experience and do procedures that we will use in our daily work”, says Damacena.
Currently, the municipality of Apuí doesn’t have an official fire brigade, being covered by PrevFogo, coordinated by Ibama, at some times of the year.[:]
