Manejadores se unem para fortalecer atividade florestal na RDS do Uatumã

O projeto Cidades Florestais do Idesam avançou mais uma etapa com a formação do grupo de manejadores que será responsável por conduzir o manejo florestal da associação dos moradores da Reserva de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (RDS) do Uatumã. O grupo foi criado em reunião no início de maio e o próximo passo é identificar os locais de implementação dos planos de manejo florestal.

O Cidades Florestais é um projeto executado pelo Idesam com financiamento do Fundo Amazônia e tem por objetivo promover o uso múltiplo da floresta por meio do incentivo ao manejo florestal e apoio à produção comunitária familiar. Além da criação do grupo com objetivos e regras específicas, durante a última reunião foram discutidas as etapas do manejo florestal, e direitos e deveres de seus integrantes.

Agora, os integrantes do grupo devem verificar o potencial madeireiro da área onde se almeja instalar os três planos de manejo florestal. Uma das obrigações dos integrantes é participar dos cursos de gestão de manejo e também participar de todas as atividades do processo.

Por safra, será realizada uma reunião de organização do grupo, que deverá estabelecer o coordenador de cada etapa do manejo a ser executada, estabelecer o número de pessoas necessários para cada etapa, avaliar os custos e a forma de custear cada uma delas. Os próprios produtores irão definir a forma de repartição de lucro e dívidas.

Esta foi a terceira reunião realizada na RDS do Uatumã com os produtores que trabalharão junto ao projeto. Após a avaliação das áreas que devem receber os planos de manejo, serão iniciadas as capacitações do grupo.

“Nas experiências anteriores com planos de manejo na RDS foi possível explorar de 15m³ a 18 m³ por hectare. A avaliação a ser realizada irá verificar a existência de espécies com alto valor de mercado, como Ipê e Itaúba”, explica o gerente do projeto, André Vianna.

Atualmente, 10 pessoas compõe o grupo de manejadores, incluindo moradores das comunidades: São Francisco do Caribi, Santa Luzia do Caranatuba, Bela Vista e Bom Jesus. Idesam’s Cidades Florestais project moved another step forward with the establishment of a forest managers group that will be responsible for guiding the forestry management of the Uatumã Sustainable Development Reserve (RDS, in Portuguese) Residents’ Association. The group was created during a meeting in early May, and the next step is to identify areas for the implementation of the forestry management plans.

Forest Cities is a project carried out by Idesam with funding from the Amazon Fund which aims to promote the multiple use of the forest through the encouragement of forestry management and support to community production. Besides the creation of the group with specific objectives and rules, the last meeting discussed the stages of forest management, and the rights and duties of its members.

Now, the members of the group should check the timber potential of the area where the three forestry management plans are intended to be installed. One of the obligations of the members is to participate in the courses of management methods and also to participate in all the activities of the process.

A group organization meeting will be held per harvest in order to establish the coordinator of each stage of the management to be implemented, set the number of people required for each stage, evaluate the costs and the way to pay for each step. The producers themselves will define how to share profit and debts.

This was the third meeting held at the Uatumã RDS with the producers who will be working on the project. After evaluating the areas that should receive the management plans, trainings to increase the group’s capacities will be initiated.
